Kandwi Elementary, Primary, and Secondary School require water well for their seven-hundred(700) pupils. Access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene at the school will resolve most of the other issues and challenges that the pupils are currently facing such as:
- Drinking-Water – lack of clean drinking water causes the pupils susceptible to life-threatening diseases from contaminated water.
- Sanitation – lack of water forces the pupils to use inadequate communal latrines or go to openly defecate in the bushes and thereby exposing fecal matter that can be transferred back to pupils through food and rainwater. This could spread serious diseases such as cholera, dysentery, diarrhea, etc. For the girl pupils and women, going to the bushes can leave them vulnerable to abuse and sexual assault.
- Ablution – Availability of water within the school environment will enable the provision of a much-needed place of worship – a mosque facilitated with adequate water for ablution services. Such a place of worship will also be able to serve members of the nearby communities who at times pass by close to the school.
